Avoidable.

Akshay Kumar was highly off color and boring in this movie.

Nana Patekar was fun. As always. Anil Kapoor was great too. The movie was probably only bearable and fun when they were on (apart from katrina ;-).

The second part was too streched out.

Halla Bol

The movie was good in the first half but it managed to mess itself in the second half. It couldn't decide if it wanted to be an RDB or a masala movie.

The scenes like the pankaj kapoor with truck, at pool and ajay devgan's rug scene could have been well avoided.

I think the villan was acting well but all these silly scenes and his P.A. etc messed up his fear factor.

And it would probably have been better if the story was set in Delhi and not Bombay since the main inspiration of the movie is the Jessica Lal murder case

Well. Overall it was good timepass cause the story line was fun and I thought the supporting actors like Mithun, Anupam Kher and Pawan Malhotra did a good job.

Nikhil was woefully short of ammunation whenever the scene required that "something extra" be it an emotional scene or a funny scene or a acting out scene. His role was very well set up so one always felt and supported him somewhat but I always felt one could have used a stronger actor.

Oh and Amrita Rao was cute. As always. :)

Coming Up: Golden Compass tomorrow. (And Bombay to Bangkok sometime after that).

I seem to be stuck with thousands in Sodexho coupons and don't seem to be making any progress spending any of it eating idlis in the local cafetaria. Can't I just buy a TV or something? :-/

Finally made the 38km trip to the office and back today and feeling very accomplished. ;-)

The car in the photo is not mine but it's close enough.

Awesome show!

Reached around 7:45, suitably fortified. Strolled into the 1800 section with corporate discount ticket. Managed to reach in front without much effort. It was quite peaceful there surprisingly. There were too many women and couples ahead then guys.

It was Joe Perry's show all the way. There were some rumours of Tyler not being well although he didn't show it. The guitar solo after Sweet Emotions was the best portion of the concert.

They missed out a number of popular songs like Janie's Got a Gun but managed to keep the energy up all concert. Never a boring moment.

They played my favourite song "Dream On" near the beginning. Yes!

Accomplice in crime was again suyesh who gave up a VIP pass to slum it out in the 1800s.

Can't seem to upload videos to Youtube. Only managed one small clip.

So suyesh and I get late for the Iron Maiden Concert. We enter around 8:15 into the 1500 bucks area. By 8:30 the barricades to the 1500 bucks area are broken and most people from the 900 area have spilled over. We don't recognize anyone in sight and no cell phones work.

Noticing this suyesh says "Lets go to the first row". Not amused at the prospect of pushing past about 30,000 people ahead of us I play for time "Well, lets roll a joint first". (hoping he'll change his mind later). No luck. So we're off.

"Hi" .... "sorry" .... "thank you"....

Finally we reach the dense part with people standing stoically against our progress as if we were Borivlites on a Virar local. I relax thinking that we'll hang around here .. but suyesh suddenly starts again shouting "Dont push... don't push" and plows straight into a 1/2 inch gap ahead. I GRAB onto him and follow. This happens a few times and by then we've built up a fan club so there's this whole bunch of unknown strangers pushing us ahead. To cut a long story short in about half an hour we are just behind the front row chilling after suyesh has finished his pilgrimage by touching the front railing.

After that it was a crazy concert, randomly getting pushed everywhere. Screaming, shouting. The last time I ever did stuff like this was maybe 13 years ago. Man, what a ride.

So I was living happily here in Bangalore for 2 months until I decided to make a weekend trip to Bombay and saw the light. Since then my condition has been like this mostly except I dont mind accents and languages but people who consistently talk in languages unknown and shut you out of the conversation can go die now for all I care.

So now I'm afflicted with the premshree virus of making trips to Bombay every week and I'm getting withdrawl symptons cause I couldn't make a Pune Trip due to random issues.

(Looking forward to that Laphroaig bottle you will be getting back ;-)

UPDATE: Screw it all. In Bombay tomorrow by 1:30PM. In Pune by tomorrow night. In Bombay by day after evening. Back in Bangalore the next afternoon

After decades, figured out how to make pohe perfectly. Used to always mess up the water.

Recipe. (from a mix of various recipes online)

Take 1 cup Pohe, wash, drain.

Sprinkle 1/2 tsp turmeric & 1tsp salt and let it rest

Add 1/2 tsp mustard seeds to hot oil

When they crackle add 10 curry leaves and 1/2 tsp hing

Add 2 thinly sliced medium potatos and stir fry.

Add 2 finely chopped green chilli and 2 chopped medium onions.

Wait till onions become transluscent.

Add Pohe

Add 1tsp sugar

Sprinkle coriander

Sprinkle a large peg (of water), close the lid and switch off the stove.

Let it rest for 5 to 10 minutes.

Sprinkle some lemon while serving.
